The Brick House Betties are a women’s flat track roller derby team located in the beautiful Comox Valley, British Columbia. We are a non-profit organization that hosts scrimmages and games throughout the year, bringing together skaters and fans from all across the Island & the lower Mainland. The Betties also train, coach, and mentor the Comox Valley junior roller derby team, the Stone Cold Stellas, for skaters age 10-17. Roller derby is a fantastic sport that builds strong athletes, both mentally and physically.
There are lots of ways for skaters to be involved, not only by playing roller derby, but also reffing, and roller dancing! We are actively recruiting new members and we teach you to skate! Please stop by one of our practices at the Rec Centre in Cumberland or use our contact page to find out more. And, follow us on Facebook!
Inspired by the history of skate culture, our team name and logo celebrate the fun and funk of skating in the ’70s. It was an empowering time of positive progress for women & people of colour, all set to a great soundtrack.
Black culture has important significance in roller skating history. The Brick House Betties stand in solidarity with the Black, Indigenous and people of colour (BIPOC) across the world who are standing up and demanding justice. We are committed to supporting our BIPOC teammates, roller derby and the larger community.
